THE VISIT OF THE NEW ZEALAND DELEGATION TO VIETNAM NATIONAL UNIVERSITY, HO CHI MINH CITY.


On April 6th, 2015, the New Zealand delegation, headed by Hon Steven Joyce, Minister for Tertiary Education, Skills and Employment; Minister for Economic Development and Minister for Science and Innovation, has visited Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh city (VNU-HCMC). The party was welcomed by Associate Professor Duong Anh Duc, Vice President of   VNU-HCMC, along with delegation from VNU-HCMC.

During the visit, Mr. Joyce has witnessed the signing of Memorandum of Understanding between the VNU-HCMC and the Auckland University of Technology (AUT). The AUT is the first University with rapid development in New Zealand. The University has always been ranked among the top 500 Universities worldwide. The signing agreement will further strengthen the collaboration in teaching, learning and scientific researches between VNU-HCMC and the AUT.

Mr. Joyce has also attended in the Gradutation Ceremony of the Bachelor in Computer and Information Sciences Program,  a collaborative program between the AUT and University of  Science- VNU-HCMC.

From 2008 to present, the collaborative program proudly has 110 graduates in Computing and Information Sciences with a major in IT Service Science, focusing on the application of IT in managing the service industry. Majority of the graduates have been successfully employed at the end of the course. The statistics has proved the success of the collaborated program by promoting the strengths of both Universities: fundamental teaching of the University of Science and the innovative teaching of the AUT. . Importantly, the program also offers scholarships to support students in furthering their studies in New Zealand.

Mr. Steven Joyce’s visit to VNU-HCMC has promoted the success of the collaboration between Universities in Vietnam and New Zealand, thus , offering a framework to enhance educational cooperation in a sustainable way.
