Celebrating the achievements of our Vietnamese graduates
AUT University is proud to launch the AUT Vietnam Alumni Association, which recognises the achievements of graduates from Vietnam and provides a network for them to stay in touch with their fellow alumni and academic staff.
A strong partnership
AUT University was the first New Zealand university to build a partnership with Vietnam and has been here for 20 years now. We are committed to growing a mutually respectful friendship in education with Vietnam. We value the support of the Vietnam Government and the contacts built up by Mr Chris Hawley (AUT's Director of International Development) with Vietnam Government officials and educational leaders.
AUT University has formal working agreements with Vietnam National University-HCMC in Business (International University and International Education Institute) and Computer Science (University of Science); as well as with Hue University in central Vietnam and with Hanoi University. A new agreement is due to be signed with Thai Nguyen University of Economics and Business Administration.
In the last 12 months AUT University has hosted two successful conferences in Vietnam. In late 2011 AUT's Public Policy Institute jointly hosted a conference in HCMC looking at urban development in the Asia and Pacific region. In August this year AUT's School of Computer and Mathematical Sciences, along with VNU-HCM University of Science, hosted the First Forum on International Collaborative Academic Programmes.
Outstanding students
This year the University has hosted around 450 Vietnamese students, who have an excellent work ethic and high success rates. We now have Vietnamese students undertaking PhD studies at AUT University, including several from the VNU-HCM system. We welcome more, especially those under Vietnam or New Zealand government scholarships.
Finally, we are proud of the large number of AUT University graduates from Vietnam who have joined us tonight. Their ability and hard work are helping build a brighter future.
